Belen

Originally, eight separate plazas, Belen eventually evolved into two sections—Old Town and New Town.  In 1886, the sleepy Spanish town reinvented itself when the railroad came, bringing with it connections to Denver, Chicago, El Paso and Los Angeles, making Belen, “The Hub City,” a new nickname for New Mexico’s little town of Bethlehem.

Now, Interstate 25 makes Belen easily accessible to Albuquerque and the town has become a part of a rapidly-growing corridor which also includes Los Lunas and Bosque Farms.  With the coming of the Rail Runner Commuter Railroad, Belen is a haven for those who want the conveniences of a nearby large city while enjoying the pleasures of rural living.
